New students good luck in his class!!!!!

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

In my Edm 310 class it has prepared me to do varies of things, not only with computers but aso helped me provide information in a professtional manner. Creating different slideshows through PowerPoint was my favorite activity throughtout this prolonged semester. The first time we created a side it was just introducing ourselves. We got to show our like, dislikes, family, friends, hobbies and goals. The second time we made a powerpoint slide show it was pretaining to our major in teaching from k-12 that teaches a concept within the curriculum. My presentation was on Kindergarden teaching the five senses. I attracted attention with pictures, utilized techniques that stimulate discussion like different ways of touch such as hot, cold, hard, and soft in my slide. I understand now how this class helps me prepare to become a future teacher one day.In the word program we learned about how the internet can be a very essential tool to use if you can use it correctly and In the correct format. Material can be linked into one from different web sites into one single document with resources, images, hyper links from all related sites. I never knew it was different ways to insert picture to have text objects and floating over text objects for inserted pictures. Saving files and uploading them to different folders is one thing that was used daily in this class. In the excel program, it was also very fun to learn the different ways that you can use this single application as a grade book, record of sales, averages of all kinds and etc. Learning to use this as a grade book will help me when I become a teacher to easily add grades and averages with a breeze. When thinking about computers and how they make some of the most prolong job easy makes me I'm so glad we have them. This class has been one of six of my classes. I enjoyed this one the most because my teacher Mr. Wakeman taught the class with fun, energy, and profection. If anyone has to take this class please chose Bob Wakeman!!!

Ipod use in school

http://www.dukenews.duke.edu/2005/04/ipodfinal.html

Duke University use the Ipod device, which Apple normally sells for $300, will be used as high-tech educational tools to record lectures, capture scientific data and play language training recordings. But it's not altogether clear to many that the university will be able to carry through on its vow to make the gadgets more than a toy for playing the latest from the likes of Coldplay and Hoobastank. The school approached Apple about the project and got the iPods at a discount. Each student also got a $10 gift certificate to buy music from a Duke-only iTunes Music Store website developed by Apple. Other details of Duke's contract with Apple remain confidential, but Greg Joswiak, Apple's vice president of hardware product marketing, said the company is monitoring the project closely.Duke handed out iPods to 1,650 freshmen on a mid-August evening. For those who already owned iPods, the freebie offered a chance to turn a quick buck or do someone a favor. Peter Lormier, a freshman from New Haven, Connecticut, plans to sell his on eBay. Daniel Phan of Bedminster, New Jersey, said he would give his sister the one he just got for his high school graduation. The iPods being given to students have 20 GB of storage and a $35 voice-recorder attachment. They come pre-loaded with welcome messages from school president Richard Brodhead and provost Peter Lange, the school's alma mater and fight song, information about campus buildings and North Carolina's Research Triangle area, as well as tips from current students on studying. I think this could be very useful to all university's and it provides the new techonology. With learning that technology is empowered I fell this could also be useful her at South Alabama. How can we look into this to get the new technology here????

Dr. Alice Christie

Dr. Alice Christie consulting Teacher sites, where she speaks on conducts workshops nationally and internationally on how technology can enhance teaching and learning. Once a person realize that technology really does enhance the learning ability it will improve the teaching skills and I think it will help me once I am a teacher. "Her ability to inspire teachers, and her deep understanding of the learning process make her an indispensable workshop facilitator for K-12 schools seeking to integrate technology, improve instructional strategies, and student learning". The varies things listed are very influential to teachers. Dr. Christie’s workshops are proven to engage, challenge, and invigorate participating teachers. wikipedia

I think Wikipedia is not a site that should be used for research or if someone is looking for valid information. If you can change the material several times, not even knowing who really supplied the information makes the encyclopedia not such a good form for studies, research and etc. In English 102, I had to research several things and the first thing that came out of my professors mouth was, DO NOT USE Wikipedia! I think the site could never become a useful site for information being that its from the stand point of different people and their gonna speak on how whatever the topic relates to them. In the clipping I listened to on NPR the interviewer had remarks on how a person can change the source information even though you can track what computer it does not tell the persons name just the computer data base information.

May blog

When you first read this blog it said to watch the youtube clipping which i found very insteresting. I know it has been plenty of people that has had a bad experience with coustomer service, wheather its on the phone, in a store, a reaustaurt where it is related to how teachers service students. In most schools there is always so many teacher there just to get a check. There are also so many that don't really care if the students learn are not, the teacher feels and tends to say they have a degree and you are tring to get where I am. I always think about those types of teachers. I would hate to provide such carelessness to people that why especially being one who should try to motivate one to learn. When it comes down to coutstomer service in this aspect it means providing the best possiblel way to benefit each other I get the enjoyment out of helping someone become a better person and the other person becomes one who can may one day help someone the same way and customer service is a trade.

I never looked at it in this way untill now and when I first looked at the clipping I was expecting something totally different. This blog was a blog that turns the lightbulb on in ones head to say how do I treat people in the coustomer service aspect, in a teacher aspect.
